Sophie E. Honeyman

Sophie is an associate in Taft’s Litigation practice in the Chicago office. Prior to joining the firm, Sophie served as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Mark J. Dinsmore in the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Indiana, where she managed internal case files, honed her legal research skills, and drafted numerous orders regarding civil motions and disputes and social security appeals.

Sophie received her J.D., cum laude, with a concentration in criminal law and procedure from the University of Illinois Chicago John Marshall Law School. While in law school, she served as a judicial extern for the Hon. James E. Shadid in the Central District of Illinois, Peoria Division, and was part of record-breaking moot court and mock trial teams. Sophie also interned in various capacities throughout Chicago, including for the ACLU of Illinois, and was a staff editor for the UIC John Marshall Law Review. Her article, Escaping Death: The Colorado Method of Jury Selection, was published in 2021 and received UIC’s Scribe Award. Sophie graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and a minor in political science.
