Taft Stettinius & Hollister Announces Seven New Partners

Cincinnati, OH – Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP proudly announces  the election of seven new partners: Paige Leigh Ellerman, Monica L. Gearding, and Melissa D. Kurzhals in the Cincinnati office; Kimberlie L. Huff, Mark R. Jacobs and Patrick J. Krebs in the firm’s Cleveland office and Lisa K. Wiseman from the Dayton office.

Ellerman is a partner in Taft’s Business Restructuring, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Practice Group and is Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification. She focuses her practice on complex business restructuring and Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. She currently serves as Chair of the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Section, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Cincinnati Bar Association and Cincinnati Bar Foundation, Vice-President of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, Treasurer of the Tri-State Association of Corporate Renewal, and a member of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Foundation. Ellerman received the 2008 Outstanding Recent Graduate Award from Northern Kentucky University, Salmon P. Chase College of Law and has been named an Ohio Super Lawyer’s Rising Star each year since 2005.

Gearding, a partner in the Real Estate and Business and Finance Practice Groups of Taft, focuses her practice on commercial real estate and corporate law. She received her undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, graduating cum laude. Gearding is in her third term as a member of the Wilder, Kentucky City Council.

Kurzhals focuses her practice in the areas of qualified and nonqualified employee benefit plans and ERISA within the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. She received her B.S. in biology and B.A. in anthropology from the University of Cincinnati. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, graduating Order of the Coif and second in her class. Kurzhals is a member of the Cincinnati and American Bar Associations.

Huff received her undergraduate degree from Valparaiso University and law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law graduating cum laude. She focuses her practice in Business Litigation and Bankruptcy, and is admitted to practice in Ohio and Illinois. Huff was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star.

Jacobs’ practice is primarily devoted to commercial litigation in state and federal courts, including appellate litigation. He also has experience in advising clients in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and entity formation matters. He received his B.A. in history from the Washington University in St. Louis and earned his law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law, graduating cum laude. Jacobs has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star and is a member of the American, Federal, Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations. He serves as Co-Chair of the ABA Private Equity Litigation Subcommittee and on the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America Golf Outing Committee.

Krebs primarily is involved in representing clients in various types of real estate, business, and litigation matters, and also has experience counseling professional athletes. He graduated cum laude from Villanova University and earned his law degree, graduating cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Krebs has been recognized as a 2009 Super Lawyers Rising Star, and is a member of the American, Ohio State and Cleveland Bar Associations. He regularly volunteers his time and currently serves as a tutor to high school students as part of the Cleveland Municipal School District’s “The 3Rs: Rights, Responsibilities and Realities” program and is also active in the Cleveland Legal Aid Society’s volunteer lawyer programs.

Wiseman is a partner in Taft’s Private Client Practice Group. She is board certified as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the Ohio State Bar Association Specialty Board. She serves on The Disability Foundation’s Board of Directors, The Dayton Art Institute’s Planned Giving Committee, the Dayton Bar Association’s Bar Exam & Qualification Committee and the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning of Greater Dayton’s Board of Trustees. Wiseman is consistently recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star.
