Jonathan B. Amarilio is quoted in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin article, “No New Light in Court Ruling on Power Plant,” on May 19, 2016. The article focuses on a recent opinion by the Illinois Supreme Court to decline to rule on whether the Illinois Commerce Commission could force retail electric suppliers to pay for the $1.7 billion FutureGen 2.0 power plant project in Meredosia, Illinois.

Amarilio argued for the Illinois Competitive Energy Association and Illinois Industrial Energy Consumers, groups representing Illinois' retail electric suppliers. He said the groups were “very, very pleased” with the outcome, which vacated a lower court opinion that found Illinois electric ratepayers could be forced to pay for the project. “I think, given the fact that the case was moot[ed] while on appeal, vacating the appellate court opinion was the best outcome we could’ve realistically hoped for,” Amarilio said.
