Shrestha Joins Taft’s Intellectual Property Group

Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP is pleased to announce that Roshan P. Shrestha, Ph.D. has joined the firm’s Chicago office as an associate in the Intellectual Property group. Dr. Shrestha’s addition to the IP litigation team at Taft follows a number of other recent high-profile additions. In the last two years, more than 20 intellectual property attorneys have joined Taft, bolstering the firm's capabilities in this area.

Dr. Shrestha focuses his practice on all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent litigation, prosecution and opinion work in the chemical, pharmaceutical and electronic material arts. He has a broad scope of pharmaceutical and life sciences capabilities, including Hatch-Waxman litigation. Dr. Shrestha has more than five years of experience in this highly complex area of litigation, representing prominent generic and brand pharmaceutical companies at both the trial and appellate levels.

Prior to joining Taft, Dr. Shrestha was an associate at Leydig, Voit and Mayer, Ltd., an IP boutique in Chicago. Before practicing law, Dr. Shrestha was a research scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, where his investigation on materials for hydrogen storage technology received a patent. His work received grant funding from the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy and NASA.

Dr. Shrestha received his B.A. in chemistry, Phi Beta Kappa, from Grinnell College and his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law, where he was a notes and comments editor for the Northwestern Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property.
